Custom furniture is a broader term covering all furniture designed for a particular user or project. Fixed furniture refers specifically to pieces measured for a particular space and usually installed in connection with architectural surfaces. Every fixed item can be made specifically for a project, but not every custom-made piece needs to be fixed in place.
A comprehensive architectural project is not essential for every job. A single cabinet, entrance unit or TV unit can proceed from an on-site survey and needs assessment. For hotels, offices, villas or projects containing many furniture items, layout plans and technical drawings help the process move forward with greater control.
